November: Looks I'm Lovin'

Here are some of my stand out looks from a few of my favourite ladies from the past month! I have included both red carpet looks and every day looks which have piqued my interest and deserve a mention.

From the red carpets this month I am loving the smokey eye looks and plum pouts that Selena and Jennifer rocked (complete babes) as well as the simple yet elegant look Jamie Chung sported in New York earlier in November.

Yes they are all wearing black outfits (which some may think boring). But each have varied styles/cuts, accessories and hairstyles and look completely unique! Each lady has their own beautiful and stylish take on the classic LBD!

Off duty these ladies and their famous counterparts have equally amazing personal style. I love these women as they are consistently comfortable, practical and always lovely! A great plus is that their styles are easy to attain on a budget as similar versions of their clothes/accessories can be bought on the high street or online.

These are women who work hard and are doing it for themselves! They are people to aspire to both on career and fashion levels.

What looks have ye been loving this month? Who are ye're style icons?

Graduation Gift: Michael Kors

Hello everyone hope ye are all well!

As Aoife mentioned in the previous haul post we spent a few days last week up in the Big Shmoke aka Dublin! Aoife picked up a few amazing pieces as did I! The main focus of our shopping expeditions for me was the search for a handbag. My Mom and I decided to 'go halves' on a bag of choice for my college graduation gift. Something reasonable but more high end that would be an investment for life.

Most of my friends would agree that I am a stickler for looking after clothes/shoes/accessories. I just don't see the point in trashing something that you chose to buy whether its a bargain from Primark/Penneys or a key piece from Zara. I just love to look after and maintain my purchases because with the right care they can be preserved from season to season and year to year!

Now enough of my rambling and onto the BAG!! I had my heart set on a Michael Kors bag from the outset. I searched online and in my local Brown Thomas for 'the one'. I thought I had found it but there is definitely a difference between looking at something online and physically holding it in your own hands and really seeing it.

Last Friday, by Luas, we made our way to Dundrum Town Center. It was my first time there and I was slightly over-whelmed (and honestly more than slightly hungover - thanks to the Kodaline gig the night before) by the sheer magnitude of the building; so many floors/shops/lights/people/escalators...aaah! Sensory over load!

Luckily we easily found the Michael Kors shop and got down to business. The shop assistant was not only nice but so so helpful. We were treated so well (where oftentimes basic manners is over looked in these type of high end stores). Within 2 minutes of talking to me she had found my perfect bag; black leather, shoulder strap, long detachable strap with gold chain detail, tassel on the zip, need I go on? It could be worn from day/night with ease. Literally my perfect bag! I think that she definitely has a skill of matching people to bags!

I left Michael Kors on air and text my Mom immediately thanking her for allowing me to make such an amazing purchase.

Another lovely feature of Michael Kors is the nod to giving back! The designer has partnered with the World Food Programme to #WATCHHUNGERSTOP. Whereby 100 meals are given to those who are badly off. And if that has piqued your interest we have a previous post here! on the fashion world giving back. Wonderful gift ideas for anyone especially in the run up to Christmas!

Have ye recently purchased any investment pieces or have one on a 'wishlist'? I would love to hear!

Vamped

Funnily enough my berry themed clothes obsession has transferred to my make up and perfume choices! This post includes a few berry-hued favourites that I have purchased recently or have been lovin' long time!

The perfume is a long time love, with both the Bourjois eye shadow and the Rimmel 'Starry-eyed' lipstick being recent purchases.

I have been stuck in a funk eye shadow wise of late. I've had the Naked 2 Palette since April of last year and have not deviated from it since (no seriously whether it be for day wear, a night out or an occasion I have used the palette EVERY TIME). So I thought why not get something new? I was very drawn to the Bourjois Paris Colour Edition 24h Eyeshadow range as they have the perfect amount of shimmer for this time of year without over kill. They have lovely colours to choose from, with this gorgeous hue aptly named 'Prune Nocturne'.

It has a light creamy texture and a beautiful metallic sheen. I wore it out over the weekend and applied it with my ring finger. It holds very well and did not budge for the night - and it was a long one! It goes on easily and gives a great smokey eyed look - my favourite kind of night time look!

The Rimmel lipstick in 'Starry-eyed' is a moisturising rich plum shade in a dark case (this was a plus as I hate their shiny purple case lipsticks). I had been searching for the perfect deep plum shade for the longest time and I am delighted with it. I think it is my perfect personal shade!

I have yet to wear it out but I have no doubt it will be used throughout the upcoming party season to make a statement with a more neutral eye look.

(Swatches of lipstick top and eye shadow below)

My final 'vampy' favourite is Dior's Poison. This is in fact belonged to my Mom but we have an unsaid agreement of perfume swapping, which is great because she has a great collection! I am a serious lover of musky perfumes no matter what time of year but particularly during the winter season as they suit the hot/cold temperatures and make a sexy fragrance for nights out.

Have ye any winter favourites year in year out or any recent purchases ye are lovin? I would love to hear!

Also Aoife and I will be heading to Dublin for the next few days so expect a bundle of posts next week, mainly outfit posts I think!

Fashion that Gives BACK!

  Hi everyone!
As we are in the run up to Christmas and the shopping rush begins, we here at Native Feathers would like to put those brands that give back in the spotlight.

Angela & Roi Bag Company go the extra mile with a unique way to raise money for charity while promoting awareness for those causes that need our help and attention.

HOW IT WORKS.
Different medical issues relate to specific colours. For example, Lung Cancer awareness links traditionally with the color white. When customers purchase a white handbag, five dollars will automatically be donated to Lung Cancer Alliance. Angela & Roi works together in total with eleven non-profit organizations.

A detachable colour ribbon accompanies each handbag purchase. The ribbon associates with specific causes. By attaching the ribbon to your handbag, you can help raise awareness.
This is just simply a fantastic idea, by carrying a bag with a colour ribbon representing a chosen cause, you can spread more awareness for your chosen cause everyday.

Angela & Roi’s mission is to build a community where fashion can intertwine with philanthropy and we believe they are doing a great job!

For every pair of shoes sold by Toms they give another pair to a child in need, One for One.
"Transforming everyday purchases into a force for good around the world."

Toms gives shoes in more than 60 countries, working closely with their Giving Partners to make sure the communities who receive shoes will receive the greatest impact to the health of their children.

It is easy to take for granted that we are all lucky enough to own shoes but this is a luxury that not all children are afforded, having shoes is a huge deal for these children and can help them in many ways:

Protecting children's feet from cuts and infections; helping children go to school where shoes are often required for attendance and giving a child the confidence to reach their full potential and enjoy life.

So if you are shopping for yourself or loved ones this christmas why not support a brand that pays it forward.
If you guys know any other charitable brands please let us know!

OOTD: Casual Khaki

Jacket: H&M // Top (Underneath): Primark // Boots: Schuh // Snood: Primark // Bag: Vero Moda

Hello! Just a quick outfit of the day from the past week. It is getting quite cold in Ireland but the rain seems to be holding off some recently, phew! I teamed my water proof red or dead lace boots with my khaki H&M windbreaker with plenty of layers underneath for a relaxed vibe as I was running errands in my local town!

I will be doing a post on some recent purchases and more OOTD's in the coming week! Hope ye're all well!

Get The Look: Vanessa Hudgens / Dulce and Gabbana

Last week Vanessa Hudgens looked stunning as she walked the red carpet for the first ever Youtube Awards held at Pier 36 in New York City. And what an entrance she made! Hudgens is known for her bohemian style and love of patterns so it came as no surprise that she chose an eye catching wool-and-silk-blend Dolce and Gabbana dress printed with a mosaic inspired by Sicily's Cathedral of Monreale. This is from the fashion houses' Fall 2013 collection.

This creation was seen in both longer and shorter lengths on the D&G runway earlier in the year. It is certainly not for the faint-hearted (or those who dislike loud patterns or frankly gold or yellow tones!) but is a stunning gown all the same. Vanessa rocked it with neutral make up, her signature loose curls, minimal jewelry and beautiful gold lace beaded pointed D&G pumps also from their Fall '13 collection.

Now for us mere mortals this dress will set you back a cool €2500. Pocket change really...heh, yeah right! Luckily iclothing have a similar version for a fraction of the cost of its designer counterpart. This version, the Rita Print Bodycon Tunic, has a beautiful detailed mosaic print set on a striking gold background. Granted it is the shorter version of the D&G dress it is a total steal at €30 and perfect for the upcoming party season and those wishing to replicate Vanessas style!

Any avid Vanessa style fans will love this pick! Personally I have been following Vanessas' style evolution down through the years and can only commend her on her daring style choices! This dress is perfect for the season ahead. It could be a key piece in anyone's winter wardrobe or for anyone wishing to stand out from the crowd amongst the usual LBD's!

Shoe Haul: Zara & Primark

Shoes / Zara

These court shoes from zara are so comfortable (took me from day to night pain free) and the asymmetric style of the shoe is very flattering as they don't cut off the leg at the ankle, instead these courts elongate the leg (which is great from me as I am only a shorty at 5.3") with the angled design and nude colour.

These courts a definitely going to be my go to heels for the christmas party season.

Shoes / Primark (Penneys)

These look great with jeans, dressing up any casual outfit and at €18 they are a total bargain!
